Mixing and Mastering
What is mixing?
Mixing is the final step in shaping your song after recording. A mix engineer will take your raw tracks and blend them into a polished, balanced mix.
They will set levels to ensure every instrument and vocal sits just right; enhance clarity and dynamics with EQ & compression; create space and depth with
stereo panning; and add effects like reverb, delay and more.
Why do I need my recordings mixed?
Mixing is what makes your song sound professional! Even the best recorded song won't sound right without a proper mix.
What is mastering?
Mastering is the final process of turning a song or collection of songs into a final master for manufacturing so that it translates well across systems: CD
player, radio, computer, car, phone, Bluetooth, headphones, etc.
Can you explain the differences between the producer, engineer, and master engineer easily?
Think of it like cooking. A producer will come up with the recipe. The engineer will gather all of the ingredients. The mixer will blend everything and get
it cooked. The Master engineer will get everything together on the plate and add the garnish.
